HR Manager:
Employment Act Notice Period
Scenario
An employee with 3 years of service resigns on 15 Sep 2025. The contract is silent on notice, so the Employment Act minimum applies: 2 weeks' notice. Notice runs from the day it is given, and weekends/public holidays are included. Calculate the last day of employment.

- •Provides a precise last day of employment for payroll and HR

Litigation Associate:
ROC 2021 Short Filing Deadline
Scenario
You receive an order from the State Courts requiring your client to file a reply within 5 days of service. The order was served at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, 6 January 2026. Under ROC 2021, service after 5:00 PM is deemed served the next day, so you first work out the deemed service date. Periods of 6 days or fewer then exclude weekends and public holidays. Use the calculator to count from that deemed service date.

Court Rules
Enable Court Rules Mode (ROC 2021)
Result Example

Why This Matters
- •Automatically applies ROC 2021 short-period rules
- •Works from the deemed service date after you apply the after-5pm service rule
- •Excludes Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays for <= 6-day periods
- •Rolls deadlines forward if the final day is a non-court day
- •Reduces risk of late filing fees ($50/day)

Subcontractor:
SOPA Adjudication Application Deadline
Scenario
A subcontractor served a payment claim on 3 February 2026. The main contractor failed to provide a payment response by the due date, and the 7-day dispute settlement period expired on 10 February 2026 without resolution. Under SOPA, the subcontractor must lodge an adjudication application within 7 days after the entitlement arises (11 February 2026). Chinese New Year (17-18 Feb) falls within this adjudication window. Calculate the final deadline for lodging the adjudication application with SMC.
